It is the highest accrediting authority recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for degree-granting colleges and universities located in Pennsylvania, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and several other locations internationally.

In addition, Messiah University’s undergraduate program in business is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The program is due for reaffirmation in 2021, at which time the Graduate Program in Business and Leadership will be added to this accreditation and is expected to be approved. Current and future graduate business and leadership students’ degrees will be grandfathered-in and be considered ACBSP accredited based upon this approval.

Strategic Leadership Concentration (9 credits)

Strategic Thinking, Planning and Organizational Change

This course focuses on the leader’s role in strategic thinking, planning, and organizational change. Students will examine best practices in assessing an organization’s readiness for change, change management implementation, and strategies for coping with resistance to change.

LEAD 505 / 3 Credits

Leading Leaders

This course focuses on the practice of leading leaders within an organization. Students will examine effective practices for leader identification, development, empowerment, motivation, and accountability to achieve organizational results.

LEAD 530 / 3 Credits

Followership, Teamwork and Group Dynamics

This course focuses on the social and organizational aspects of being an effective follower and working within groups and teams. Students will examine group dynamics and the social psychology of teamwork, including stages of team development, conflict resolution, and trust.

Program Core Requirements (27 credits)

Managerial Accounting and Finance

This course focuses on the interpretation of financial information for making effective business decisions. Students will examine accounting and finance primarily from the perspective of the user (e.g., senior manager) of the information as opposed to the preparer (e.g., accountant). Topics of this course include financial theories for maximizing returns, financial statements, common financial analysis frameworks, ratios, financial modeling, cash flow analysis, asset management, liabilities, shareholder equity, investments, and valuations.

ACCT 501 / 3 Credits

Business Strategy and Execution

This course focuses on values-led organizations, examining topics such as vision, mission, core values, strategy, planning, and management execution. In addition, this course provides opportunities for students to apply management techniques to aid in strategic planning and execution in a changing business environment, and to examine how faith informs and gives purpose to business and profits.

BUSA 501 / 3 Credits

Decision-Making with Data

This course focuses on how to effectively use business data analytics in decision-making. Students will learn various techniques for collecting, analyzing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative business data. Students will be able to apply decision-making tools to aid businesses in managing risk and effectively executing and adapting their strategy in a changing business environment.

BUSA 505 / 3 Credits

Innovation and Entrepreneurship

This course focuses on new product, service, and business model innovation with a special emphasis on entrepreneurial ventures. Topics in this course include market strategies, industry analysis, competitive forces, business model generation, customer value proposition creation, LEAN startup practices, securing financial capital, and business pitching practices.

BUSA 510 / 3 Credits

Management Capstone

This course is an independent learning experience designed to allow the student the opportunity to incorporate the material learned in the MBA program in an integrative, applied project. Students in this course complete a field project in an organization of their choice, supervised by a faculty member.

BUSA 590 / 3 Credits

Global Business and Economic Development

This course examines how to effectively grow a business in the global marketplace. Student will examine global business strategy, international financial markets, macroeconomics, and economic development.

ECON 501 / 3 Credits

Best Practices in Leadership

This course focuses on the historical, academic study of leadership theory. Students will examine the ontology, axiology, and praxis of leadership by examining the various strengths, weaknesses, and contextual constraints of leadership theories and models.

LEAD 515 / 3 Credits

Organizational Effectiveness

This course focuses on theories, approaches, and techniques to evaluate, measure, and maximize an organization's effectiveness at achieving its desired outcomes. Students examine how leadership, organizational structure, people, work processes, policies and procedures, systems, and organizational culture influence effectiveness.

LEAD 550 / 3 Credits

Marketing Strategy

This course defines the core concepts of marketing and describes how its many parts are applied in effective marketing plans. Students examine marketing's theoretical foundations as well its challenging contemporary issues as they explore ways to apply market strategies in uncertain and ever changing environments. Special attention is paid to the integration of faith into these decisions and strategies.

$725.00 per credit, no fee tuition
